Using techniques borrowed from authors like Ocean Vuong and Elizabeth Strout, you'll write new scenes and discover how creative invention can lead to deeper authenticity.

Goals:

  • 500-750 words of new fiction rooted in lived experience

  • Tools for identifying the most story-worthy moments in your personal experiences and transforming them into compelling narratives

  • Learn a systematic approach to fictionalizing real life while maintaining emotional truth

  • Techniques for creating characters inspired by real people

  • There will be ~20 minutes of optional sharing (with on-the-spot feedback from Katie)
