What we can work on together
✦ Draft a full-length manuscript
Starting from a few pages or even just an idea, we’ll create a structure, develop themes, set benchmarks, and build a complete draft with consistent feedback and coaching all along the way.
✦ Revise a full-length manuscript & plan your publishing path
We’ll start with a comprehensive editorial letter and Roadmap to Revision. Then we’ll work through the revision process together and talk strategy: from self-publishing to traditional publishing. We’ll map out a submission plan, write query letters, build a list of agents or editors, and track your progress every step of the way.
✦ Write new essays from scratch
We’ll brainstorm ideas, shape them together on Zoom, and polish them through rounds of professional editing. You’ll get a customized Roadmap to Revision and regular feedback to help each piece shine.
✦ Revise & submit a batch of essays for publication
We’ll line edit each essay, build a tailored submission list, craft cover letters and pitches together, and submit strategically. You’ll have expert support and encouragement throughout the entire process.
Let’s chat about your writing goals.

“Katie is, in every way, an excellent writing instructor. She guides her students with a unique blend of precision and compassion. Katie gives direct and targeted feedback, while also treating each piece as a unique story that deserves care and understanding. When I worked with Katie using this process, she helped me craft one of the chapters that led to my publishing deal!"

“Not only is Katie a master at craft, she has such a generous spirit! Katie truly wants to help writers succeed. She provides the moral support and trusted guidance needed to help conquer doubt and overwhelm. When I publish my memoir this year, it will be in large part because of Katie."

My feedback style
I have 15 years of experience in developmental editing, with particular expertise in memoir, personal essay, and narrative nonfiction. My specialty is helping writers shape personal narratives into expertly crafted stories that have universal resonance. I love working with writers to find the “story” behind the “situation” of their lives, uncovering the beating heart of a narrative that will move readers from all walks of life. Together, we’ll make your writing the best it can be, and make you the best writer you can be.
I provide a lot of feedback.
I believe feedback is a gift and view critique as a sign of respect. Hiring a coach is an investment, and my job is to make your money worth it. I do this by offering comprehensive, honest feedback that will help your writing reach its full potential. If you’re looking for a coach who will coddle you, I’m probably not the best fit. But if you’re ready to make your writing the most well-crafted, polished work possible, we might be a perfect match.
